Senior Adults are those members who receive special attention from the Parish Associate, a retired Presbyterian minister who is part of our pastoral staff. Most are retired or semi-retired, while remaining very active in the life and worship of the church. This group includes members in health care or rehabilitation homes, as well as those in retirement homes, such as Summit Square in Waynesboro, Sunnyside Retirement Community in Harrisonburg, and Stuarts Draft Christian Home. Many of our Senior Adults, however, continue to live in their own homes. Special aspects of membership for this group include

• Fishersville Senior Citizens, sponsored by Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church, Fishersville Baptist Church, and Fishersville United Methodist Church, meet the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at Fishersville United Methodist Church at 10:30, for a program and lunch ($3.00).
• Through a bimonthly column in the church newsletter, our Parish Associate highlights the interests, recollections, and activities of older members, which also serves to help newer and younger members to appreciate the history and the diversity of our congregation.
• Homebound members may request quarterly home communion visits by the Parish Associate and an Elder.
• On Sunday morning, senior members may choose among a diversity of Sunday School classes. See the Sunday School link for further information.
• Men’s and women’s activities are highlighted under those links on our website.
• On the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month the “Tinkling Belles” meet to practice and from time to time sing during a Sunday morning worship or for a special occasion.

In supplementing the work of the Pastor and Associate Pastor to provide care and support to senior and homebound members, the Parish Associate is on call day or night for both senior members and any others in emergency situations.
